Brunch is always a good idea
If you don’t go for brunch at the weekend – then you’re not doing the weekend right! Brunch is easily my favourite meal and I’m never going to tire of it. If you have been following my Instagram for a while you’ll know that I’m a brunch addict and a creature of habit at that. Nine times out of ten I opt for the veggie breakfast – if it’s not broke don’t fix it right? Having said that every now and then I branch out and try something new – with such a variety of brunch menus in Cork you will be spoilt for choice! Below is a list of some of my favourite spots for a delicious brunch. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: There are so many great places to try out in Cork that aren’t mentioned below – this list is of my ultimate favourites/regular haunts and they are in no particular order.
A picture speaks a thousand words – if you haven’t been already you need to join the Bricklane Brunch Club! These guys mean business when it comes to their brunch menu – from the Potato Chorizo Breakfast to the Breakfast Pizza – you won’t be disappointed.
Arguably one of the top places for Brunch in Cork. There is always a queue outside the door but it’s equally always worth the wait. The staff is so friendly, the service is brilliant and they run their brunch until 5pm at the weekends. Don’t forget to order yourself a nice glass of bubbly too.
Not only do Gulpd do a great coffee but they also do a great brunch. Below is the Shasuka Breakfast and trust me – its delicious. Gulpd have also recently undergone a refurbishment and have re-opened so I’m excited to see their new look. Lastly, this café regularly runs gigs in the evenings so keep an eye on this one!
Ali’s Kitchen is a bake house located on the busy corner site of Rory Gallagher Place. This is another place where you will be lucky if you can get a seat! I particularly love the Mushroom Florentine and the French Toast they serve here. I guarantee you will be tempted by their freshly baked doughnuts too!
The Bookshelf has such a cosy atmosphere and serves delicious food. From freshly baked scones to white chocolate chip pancakes you’ll have trouble deciding what you order. If you have been following my Instagram for a while you’ll know I’m a lover of doors – and the Bookshelf is no exception!
Located on Albert Quay The Sextant is one not to miss! The sextant is so popular that you need to get there early. Their brunch menu is served Sundays from 11am to 3.30pm so it’s the perfect hangover cure. I instantly knew they would be a winner in my brunch book when my avocado arrived with chilli flakes!
Salt is Located on Victoria road – just a quick stroll from the City Centre. From the Patatas Bravas Brunch to the Insanity Waffle these guys do it right! Salt also do amazing tapas in the evening and have a great wine selection.
A local, independent establishment – Idaho is the perfect spot to pop into for brunch especially if you have spent the morning shopping, as its right in the city centre! A small (like really small) café with a lot of personality this place is certainly worth a visit.
